Howmet Aerospace is having a strong year. The US-based aerospace and defense supplier reported a 29% increase in third-quarter revenue, reaching $2.70 billion on October 29, 2026, up from $2.09 billion a year earlier. Organic revenue growth, excluding acquisitions, was 25%—the company’s highest quarterly revenue growth rate on record.

Aviation and Defense Drive Growth

Demand across commercial aviation, defense and gas turbines helped fuel the results. Revenue increased by 32% in commercial aviation, 10% in defense aerospace, 45% in gas turbines and 28% in commercial transportation.

Engine Products revenue rose 33% to $1.45 billion, while Fastening Systems grew 41% to $630 million.

Profitability also improved. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 43% to $879 million, with the margin rising from 29.4% to 32.5%. Adjusted earnings per share jumped 54%, from $0.95 to $1.46.

Howmet generated $562 million in free cash flow during the quarter and repurchased $500 million worth of shares.

Higher Targets for 2026

Following these results, Howmet raised its full-year 2026 outlook to approximately:

  • Revenue: $10.3 billion
  • Adjusted EBITDA: $3.33 billion
  • Adjusted earnings per share: $5.50
  • Free cash flow: $2 billion

Compared with its previous forecast, the company increased its revenue target by $250 million, adjusted EBITDA by $100 million and adjusted earnings per share by $0.23.

The company is also stepping up its share repurchase plans. On October 28, its board approved an additional $5 billion in buyback authorization, bringing the total available authorization to approximately $5.4 billion. Howmet says it will continue investing in production capacity and new projects while maintaining strong cash generation.

Looking Ahead to 2027

Howmet expects revenue to reach approximately $11.5 billion in 2027, representing around 12% growth over its updated 2026 forecast.

CEO and Chairman John Plant pointed to strong commercial aerospace order backlogs as a key factor supporting higher aircraft production in 2027 and beyond. Demand for components used in next-generation narrowbody aircraft engines, along with engine maintenance activity, is also expected to support growth.

With aviation and defense production expanding, Howmet plans to continue investing in capacity to meet demand. Its latest results and higher forecasts reflect growing opportunities across the aerospace supply chain.
